Flow measurement in the world’s largest research autoclave

In close co-operation with the project partner German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Stade MET GmbH had the possibility to measure the complex flow field in their research autoclave – with a loading length of 20 m and a loading diameter of 5.8 m. Using the newly by MET GmbH developed 3D flow sensors, the direction and the magnitude of flow velocity in the interior were determined at 60 positions. The measured flow field corresponds very well with the previously carried out flow calculation of the research autoclave in Stade.

The new measuring technology can be used in clean gases for speeds up to 25 m/s.

For MET GmbH the main benefits of this measurement are the evaluation of flow calculations and the optimal processing of components.
